Location spotlight: Kalgoorlie
Kalgoorlie is located in the Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia, 590 kilometres east (inland) of Perth. Kalgoorlie’s name is derived from the Wangai word Karlkurla, meaning
“Place of the silky pears”.
With a population of more than 30,000 people, Kalgoorlie Boulder is considered to be one of Australia’s largest Outback Cities. It is the largest urban centre in the Goldfields region and the fifth largest in Western Australia.
